My Farewell Email (exiting Corporate America on 4.30.2020)

Colleagues and Friends-

After 7.5 years, April 30th will be my last day at CBRE.

It has been an amazing ride since 2012 and the growth in the GWS business (GCS when I joined!) has been nothing short of phenomenal. It’s tough to believe our business grew from $1.5 billion revenue in 2012 to $13.8 billion revenue in 2019, reflecting an annual compound growth of 37%. We did this through organic growth as well as through acquisitions (plus some accounting changes along the way!), and I’m thankful for the opportunity to help GWS acquire and integrate 10+ acquisitions totaling $2 billion of CBRE capital.

In the end, however, it has always been about the people and I’m grateful for connecting with all of you. I’ve learned a lot about myself and what I want to do…and perhaps even what I don’t want to do. Thank you for your guidance, mentorship and friendship. It has been a journey of personal development and professional growth.

In my next chapter, I plan to focus on a few things (as Bill C always told me, “Focus is your Friend!”):

  1. Being a Full-Time Dad: Odd to write this in a work email but I’ve long had the aspiration of being fully present in my kids’ lives and with three kids aged 4, 6 and 8 there is never a shortage of activity. I am looking forward to the flexibility of spending unlimited amounts of time with them over the next several years because they’re all growing up so fast (when I joined CBRE, we had just…
